Introducing Mesh175™
Another Quantum leap forward! Mesh175 is our latest MWD platform offering and pairs our EM175 with our "X" Tool Pulse system.
This takes the best of both worlds - top mount high speed EM (4ft) and pairs it with our short bottom mount pulse (4ft). In between the two pieces, we add gamma and directional sensors, as well as battery(s) probe - making it highly configurable. The system operates as an EM tool primary until it senses signal issues and automatically switches to pulse to ensure the surface data transmission continues. Think cell phone technology: when 5G (EM) encounters reception issues, the 4G (Pulse) kicks in so you can keep on that important phone call (stay on bottom drilling ahead)!
Our most recent success is completing a 25,000ft well with our Mesh175 in the Delaware basin with speeds on the curve and lateral of 6-12 bps on EM and 1 bps on pulse. Our EM was 100% decode success, and pulse turned out to be along for the ride, which the way Mesh175 works.
Where is this applicable?
Areas where EM is on the bubble of working for the full well or well section and an antenna is not desirable. As an example, the Delaware basin is typically ~95% EM signal reception for the full wells (up to 12,5000' TVD) but has several zones of intermittent connectivity. In these zones, our pulse will switch on and EM switch off to ensure active measurements continue (toolface, continuous inc, azimuth, shock) until EM reception comes back on.
